It’s a dang shame they don’t allow it. Although I do understand their safety precautions for it. I’m barely legal with the van.

It’s amazing, but I am still surprised they let you....not complaining at all, just always thought they were very ‘meh’ on ‘tall’ vehicles like anything truck, SUV or van-based?

The van presumably keeps its center of mass very low, but I’m surprised as well, I’d expect blanket rules rather than careful calculations for each vehicle.

The vehicle cannot be taller than it is wide. The Transit Connect out of the factory is barely wider than it is tall...by like an inch. Plus, the Sparco wheels widen the track dimensions slightly from factory by about an inch all together. The center of gravity is very low due to the empty cavernous cargo space.

They definitely do not allow full size vans like Econolines or Transits, but I have seen pics of someone in Mil wau kee region rallycross a Honda Odyssey.

I think the F-150 is barely legal as well. It’s a 2wd so it’s not particularly tall. I haven’t actually measured it though. The rule book gives the local safety steward the final call, and he said no.

I’m really glad they’re letting the van run, because just seeing it in pictures is epic.

That’s a bummer. There’s a guy in the NEOhio region who runs his S10. And I know of old R angers being run in the past. Luckily, the Rallycross chair(s) I’ve worked with are cool people who have graciously let me run. They’ve posed concerns, saying they’ll sideline me if anything looks potentially dangerous, like the van almost flipping , but I haven’t come close yet *anxiously knock on everything wood within reach*.
